Roll out the (cold Beer) Barrel
Mar 2007
Beer tastes better cold, and in order to ensure the perfect pint each time JD Wetherspoon PLC embarked on a roll-out project to install a Glycol based chilled beer system across their entire estate. Having a previous history working with the pub chain and having a track record of dealing with roll-out projects pacific were entrusted with the delivery of the projects in Scotland and North East England. The logistics of dealing with pubs from Wick to Hull throws up a number of problems however 78 pubs and 9 months after commencement of the works everyone agrees that the overall project has been a huge success. Each pub would close on the Sunday evening and would re-open on the Thursday in order to minimise disruption to trade during the peak weekend periods. Typically there would be three pubs closed each week in Pacific’s region. Detailed forward planning was an absolute must, however there was need for flexibility to meet with the local needs of each individual unit Pacific Director Brian Gallacher said of the works “I was very pleased to be involved in this project; once again our abilities and expertise in roll-out projects were tested to the full. These jobs each had their own individual issues that required quick thinking, reaction and solutions which, coupled with the geography and in many cases remote locations called for innovation and creativity in achieving this customers objectives”
